A Season of Giving - The Extension
Recovery Program
Please join us as we
give thanks by giving back.
This week we are proud to spotlight The Extension located in
Marietta, Georgia. The Extension provides addiction recovery for the
homeless. During The Extension’s fiscal 2016 year – a total of 177
individuals received comprehensive residential treatment for addiction to drugs
and/or alcohol; 124 of those we men, while the remaining 53 were women.
In the men’s program, nearly 75% remained in the program for at least 60 days.
For those there that long, just over 60% went on to complete the program. Astonishingly,
90% of those who tracked following completion of the program reported
that they maintained sobriety, stable housing and employment.
Despite a relatively warm winter, The Extension provided emergency shelter to
86 guests on the coldest nights of the year. Those guests received nearly 900
meals.
The Surgeon General’s 2016 report, Facing Addiction in America, states, “Substance
misuse and substance use disorders have devastating effects, disrupt the future
of too many young people, and all too often, end lives prematurely and
tragically. Substance misuse is a major public health challenge and
a priority for our nation to address.”
Team Reliable is so proud and blessed to give back to just of few of those in
America facing addiction recovery issues. Reliable Paper donated almost half a
truck full of commercial kitchen products to update and expand their kitchen
facility. We concluded our visit with a large case of napkins, and
a calling card when stock runs low. The gift that keeps giving when the need
arises.
‘I wish we could do this every day!” stated Reliable Paper’s president, Brickford Faucette, photographed in the submission above. As he walked away wearing an enormous smile. His heart obviously full of giving back joy.
Please stay tuned as we continue to share our journey into a season of giving with you, our Reliable community.
Your Reliable Team
